CFDF is starting to die
« on: February 08, 2004, 02:51:34 pm »
Well, I guess it wasn't gonna last forever,  but I probably could have taken better care of it.     I slip it wayyyyyy  toooooo much and well, now it slips a bit on me.

The weird thing is it only slips on the highway, when I go to pass somebody.......

The other possibility is that maybe some oil, water, or other crap gets in there and it slips once in a while on the highway.....  :?:

I guess I'll be looking for the ACT 2600 in the near future.....

EXACT same thing happened to me.... it would slip sometimes on launches... but when I was on the highway in 5th gear, and I would floor it all of a sudden, it would slip big time and the rev's would just shoot up but the car wouldnt go anywhere...

Tommy took the clutch off and it was completely worn... heat spots everywhere..... then it was ACT 2600 6 puck disc time  :D

I think when you roll onto the throttle on the highway there's a whole ton of load on the clutch... When my clutch went on the Laser the cruise control would bury the tach on small hills if I didn't turn it off right away.

Any oil on there will drastically affect the performance of the clutch but I suspect it's probably just worn out...

*psst* hey buddy... wanna do a 4500 launch?

whooom whooom!  slipppppppp!...........  (huffin clutch fumes)

my new driver bad habits & the previous owners are catching up to me ;)

Anyhow, not to steal the post, but what do you guy suggest putting in there?  I figure in 2-3 months i'll do the job, since I don't have any problems with driving it regularly.

CFDF or ACT 2600 is all that's really worthwhile IMHO... CFDF has lots of holding power, Chris ran low 12s with his stroker in it and it's got the softest pedal.  But the 2600 is the ultimate in holding power.
