lifter tick, but u have a 2g right? does it go away? we need some more info, did you do an oil change or did it just start to happen, there are many clicking noises in his world, and that description doesnt help us to help you trouble shoot.

Yah dude, same thing happens here.  Usually just while it warms up, then after a few seconds it goes away...  my car is a mystery though.  So I do not know, all I know is I did compression / leakdown & had no problems.  So could possibly just be noisy lifters or diry valves.  Solution to dirty valves is as follows, I have not dared to try yet hehe, maybe you will.  If your doing an oil change soon.  Might get rid of ure noise.  Frankly I love it, ;).

usually 2g lifters are pretty good, but possibly only on cold starts, what oil u run? i could see it being more predominate (sp?) if you are running a synthtic based oil as regular dino oil is alot thicker and sticks better in the lifters.  When I first start up my car when cold, well the lifter noise is quite...   irritating you could say, but goes away after 5 minutes and will sometimes re-occur while driving.

Get someone to press in the clutch and see if the ticking goes away, if the ticking goes away when the clutch is depressed you may be in for a very bad day, as this is an indication that you have Crank Walk.
If that is the case you have to go and get a more specialized diagnosis made.

Mine clicks all the time...the worst is when im at a red light and the person in the car next to me can hear it...with his widows UP! It's so embarassing

I heard even if you clean them and do all that work, its just a quick fix and comes back in like 6 months. Is that true?

If you can hear it specifically from the timing belt area, it could be the hydraulic tensioner.

I have a 1gb, and mine does it too, for about 10seconds on a cold start, it sounds horrible, lifters ticking and the belt squeaking somewhere sounds like all hell for about 3 seconds.

I thought if it ticks when you press down the clutch pedal that's a sign of crankwalk...?
