How does one know that a 90 amp alternator is really a 90 amp one? Is there some kinda markings somewhere maybe? Does a 90 amp look different then the other ones that has less amps?

install it, start your car, disconnect the alternator, stick your tongue on it ...

If your teeth turn black, 90a
If your teeth turn brown and sizzle, 75a

From the outside, you really can't tell - different windings could be in there.

A place like Edmonds starters/alternators tests them on their bench first.

Your spyder should be 75A. All DSM made for the US market had 75A alts. and the Canadian market had 90A alts. There should be a sticker ont he top of the alt. and it tells you how big your alt is.
