rim and tire sizes
« on: December 08, 2003, 11:02:07 pm »
okay, I know this post has probably been done already, so if theres a link, plz post it.
Basically Im gonna be buying some Racing Hart Cr's and the question i have is whats the bolt pattern for the 95 eclipse FWD? i mean i know its a 5 bolt pattern, but is there anything else i need to know?  the offset?
also, how wide do I want to go? i want to have a 40 or 45 series profile on the rubber. maybe 210's or 225, can that be done?
if someone could sum up some nice fitting sizes that would be greatly appreciated.
Im the mean time, ill try to educate myself as well, but if someone else could do it for me that would be even better. :)
Thanks.

If your running 17's then a 235/40/17 will also fit nicely.

okay I searched and the best I could find to fit were these....

TYPE CR MULTI PIECE
 18 X 8 on 4x114.3/5x114.3
44mm (Silver)
but the offset is 44mm.
Chao, what would happen with a 44mm offset?

i got 18x8 in the front with 225 40 18's and 18x9 in the back with 235 40 18 plus a two inch drop..mine didnt rub at all before the drop...but after the drop it needed to roll the fenders ...only a bit though

Dont get different size tirees like me though...i would go with 40 series just cuz there smaller but the ride will be a little more harsh and 225's are good with 18 by 8 235's might be a little wider and there a bigger diameter tire..

If the offset is too large, your wheel is going to be closer to your suspension components and might rub there.

Basicly the greater the positive offset, the further the wheel's center will be towards the inside of the well.

The larger the positive offset, the closer to the inside your tire will get.

If you rub on the outside, you need a greater offset.
If you rub on the inside, you need a lower offset (or shims)

With +44 offset, you may rub against the suspension with a wide tire.

If you get a 44mm instead of a 42mm offset rim, that means the whole wheel/tire gets pushed 2mm further into the wheel well.

Its pretty hard to rub a 2G because of the relatively huge wheel wells, so I don't think it will make a difference.  If you really like this wheel, then don't put anything bigger than 225-40-18 tires just in case.

My suggestion is to get wheels with something closer to 40mm offset, so the wheels fill flush with the side of the car.
