who has CF hoods for sale?

Duane from carbonfiberfx sells the cf hoods.  I think Lowell has one at his shop.

VIS racing sells them to, but you gotta ship them in from toronto...

the one at lowell's shop is for a 1G I think....

Garage5 can get the VIS ones, but they were pretty expensive (but good quality, apparently).

Theres a place called gemini..dont know much about it but they were linked to ADR motorsports and they make custom CF hoods..i think thats where the group buy was getting theres too

I cant remember if the one in Lowell's shop was for a 1ga or 1gb... you can call him and ask... 604-552-1426...

ADR Motorsports makes different color carbon fiber hoods, not sure about the quality, but you can get them in red, blue, yellow or black, or other colors to I think....

Gemini does CF hoods for 1Gb, they've got a thing up on revscene...they do your standard CF weave, and their signature "V" weave, as well as coloured carbon-kevlar hoods.  I think price is $750, +100 for c/kevlar or V hood.

I just put a CFX carbon hood (Duane's) on my 92 AWD.  It's usually at the shop, so if you want to see the 1Gb hood let me know.

NOBODY makes 1ga hoods; the only one I've ever seen belonged to one of the members or moderators on dsmtalk. I'm sure you could get one custom made though.

I've been thinking about trying to make one... it's too bad I didn't still have my old parts car or I'd mould the fenders, hood, headlights and bumper off it and make a fiberglass front clip.  

I've got an article in Modified Magazine that shows how they make CF hoods, looks to be pretty easy.  I doubt I could pull off a nice surface finish but if I make my own I'll just paint it, then it doesn't matter so much. Or make an ugly all CF front clip for race weekends.  But it's a fair bit of work to swap front clips.  

One thing I've been seriously considering though is a fiberglass or CF hood with a big ram air scoop over the filter and a bigass Evo style heat vent over the turbo and then some more heat venting over the intake manifold, just to swap on quick on race day. That way it could be flimsy and super lightweight, use 4 or 6 screw in hood pins so you could take em out easy to put the stock hood back on... It'd be pretty easy, I just need a donor hood to pull a mould off of.  And some more spare time   :roll:

Anyone have experience pulling fiberglass molds off painted parts without screwing the paint finish?  That's the only thing I'm worried about regarding using my hood...

The CF hood at lowells is for the 1gb.  I think he said to me that it was around $750 to $800 for it.  Its good quility, but I think I heard that they dont shut all the way.  I have only seen one and that was on Merlins car.
