car sucks at idling.
« on: June 22, 2014, 11:21:41 pm »
really difficult to get this car to idle properly. Everything seems to be in order
I did find some random wires chopped off near the intake maniflold
And my code reader says there is no emissions stuff on my car..

I think the no may just mean sensor not read
The wires are a very thin guage one black and one yellow
The tie into the loom behind the intake manifold.

Your looking at the "readyness" moniter. They are there to do "tests" on the systems in the car and verify everything is working. "No" being displayed means they havnt completed there tests yet. They should read "ready" once they complete or "OK"  I assume you arnt pulling any current codes and the check engine light is off.   I would start by verifying your TPS sensor is set right (idle switch point and voltage adjustment) and also set your base idle and timing with jumping out the proper connectors. Also ohm testing the ISC coils would be a good idea as well to verify it's ability to function. Also I'm assuming u have good compression on all cylinders and no vacuum leaks as well.

Ohm testing my could is a good idea..... I recently gasped down my plugs because if breaking up at spiking boost pressure..18 .there could be an issue there. Also I rebuilt my intake and just slapped the tps back on... How do I set it?

you'll need a volt meter to set it.   Loosen the screw(s) and rotate it one way or another to get the output voltage to read somewhere around .45-.56 volts (I think)  check vfaq for proper settings or I can check my manual later and let you know.  VFAQ should have what you want though.

Done and Done , Thanks. no more wondering idle with the A/C on..
I also managed to get the carpets cleaned,
I ended up cutting the carpet into 3rds ( under the seat area to hide it)and soaking them in my tub with laundry detergent. than scrubbed with a brush, they look Brand new!
