Always something... Car dies at highway speed
« on: February 12, 2014, 10:56:58 pm »
Owned this car for 6months now and it's only been out of the garage for 2weeks lol. On the highway tonight it started to bogg down and die at 100kmph. It's a 91tsi auto. 14b, 450cc injectors, pretty stock. Check engine light came on for a second so I guess the first step will be to find a voltmeter to pull the codes. Any other ideas? Thanks

You got it, pull those codes before doing anything else besides a quick visual in the engine bay/connectors.

Check the MAF connector.  I have had issues with dying and such with a loose MAF connector.

Hmmm code 12,13,25...
Intake air temp sensor, air flow sensor, and barometric pressure sensor. And when I move the maf connector it makes a clicking sound at the throttle body lol maybe just a short

ahh, yeah all those sensors are in the MAF.  time for a new maf, or maybe a bad connection at the connector.

Yup kinda figured when I looked the codes up. Of course a new maf is $300 so I might as well upgrade to the 2g at least
