Meth tank leaks... Sealant recommendations?
« on: August 17, 2012, 07:32:58 am »
So... I gots a question.

For all of you running meth, either smurf blood or stronger, what do you use as a sealant?

I'm using a 1 gal AEM tank. One of the fittings is leaking, I had previously bedded it in epoxy which is obviously not holding up as well as I thought it would.

So what would you use? RTV? More epoxy? Something else?

(I also noticed that my cap is cracked, I don't think sealant is going to hold that together...)

Jb weld. Not sure about it with meth but I have used it on my rad to patch a hole that I could fit a fat finger in.
It held for over a year till I sold my jeep.

umm...  i think i used teflon thread sealant tape when i put the fittings into the AEM meth tank... or it might have already came pre-assembled with the quick release fittings already installed.

Meth eats aluminum. Don't use jb. Replace fittings if all else fails.

Then google.
Then read old postings about it.
Then ask.

Thanks guys.

Might try a fuel-safe polysulphide sealant - It's just basically a bung I need to stick back in. I don't have the low level sensor that there's a hole for.

If I can make it thread, pfte tape it is.
