4g15 clutch
« on: February 20, 2012, 05:21:00 pm »
Is the p-plate and clutch disc from a 4g6x motor the same as the 4g15. Some places say yes some say no?

I doubt it. I did the clutch in my Colt and it was way way smaller than what I had in my 2 liter cars.  It has Honda style torque so it doesn't have to be that big.

Heres the low down...  I have cross refrenced the part numbers and such.

A turbo engine 4g63t DOHC clutch  (PP and disk) is 225mm disk.  It uses the "stepped" flywheel/PP.  This will NOT work

A non turbo 1G DSM with a 2.0L DOHC (4g63) engine uses a 215mm  disk.  This clutch/PP will NOT with with a 4g15 Flywheel. (too big)  The 4g15 bigger brother the 4g93 (1.8L sohc 16v) uses the same clutch kit.

A non turbo 1G DSM 1.8 SOHC 8V (4G37) uses a 200mm clutch disk... this is the same clutch that the 1.5L (4g15) uses.  This would be your only option for a DSM clutch kit that will work on a 4g15 colt.

Sick info, And good to know.
I picked up a colt in need of a clutch, and some ebay clutch kits said they work on 1.5's straight thru to 2.4l motors. i picked up the right one. From lordco. And i still got a sub $500 colt.

yea you really have to watch ebay these days.  Was searching for Mazdaspeed stuff the other day and there was ALL SORTS of crap that said "fits Mazdaspeed 6" and it was clearly for a completely different car, and in no way would it fit my car.
