Clutch issues.
« on: November 19, 2011, 09:56:49 pm »
Okay I blew up my old tranny this weekend, swapped it out and put new axles in and everything,
Now with the new tranny in its really hard to get it into gear, my clutch pedal is really hard.
I didn't change  anything with my clutch setup and it worked fine with the old tranny, and yes I bled the clutch.
Any help would be great.

if the clutch fork is worn from the pivot ball,  the fork will hit the trans housing before disengaging the clutch, and it'll feel like the clutch pedal will feel like a rock.

its good that you got it working, but if that clutch release fork is worn, you just sort of bandaided it.  It was probably slightly bent as well.

I do hope it stays working really well for you but maybe next time you pull the transmission you should get a new fork. They make an upgrade fork too.  I will put one of those in next time I pull mine(I hope I don't need to soon, but you know what I mean)

+1.
Next time you're in there, replace the clutch fork and pivot ball.
RTM sells OEM for reasonable prices - I think it's ~$80 for both. It's just good insurance for not having it fail again soon.

Thanks guys, I wanted to replace them but I was hoping for my old transmission to hold on a bit longer,
I will Probobly be doing the clutch before summer and will do them then.

Thanks for the input!
