Clutch Choice
« on: July 09, 2011, 01:51:59 pm »
Alright so ive cooked my clutch in my car and i need to know which one i should be getting n what not. I've heard alot of good about ACT. I have the 6 bolt with some upgrades and running high 12's in the 1/4 mile. I was thinking the 2100 series or 2600 but i dunno what disc i need n such. Only upgrade to the drivetrain is a lightweight flywheel.

6 puck sprung or if you race hard and don't mind a touchy clutch un sprung 6 puck. I've driven a 4 puck sprung a 6 puck sprung and a 6 puck unsprung.

The 4 puck died fast at mission it was a 2 1/2 puck when it came out.

6 puck sprung was good and so was the unsprung. Unsprung was cheaper and not an issue.

I would say 6 puck of your choice from act with a 2600 pound p plate or higher.

:) these were all in fast cars. Hope that helps

a 2600 w/ street disc will get you there and is rated @ 440tq.  to run high 12's, youd need roughly 280-300whp on our dyno ... practicing your driving/launches will help improve times too.

Definitely 6 puck sprung or solid hub.

this is what an ACT street disk looks like after a few launches with 300whp and a 2600lb pressure plate.
337awhp.  ---> 500 awhp ? =)

Replacing parts since early 2010.

if good streetability is important look at the Centerforce.  no it won't hold up to repeated launches, but it holds my engine fine.  Well, so far anyways.

There is supposed to be some good stuff from the Fidanza series.  Search on here, I believe some reviews have been done.

My centerforce disc pads fell off....bought it to DV Aldous and it still fell off. I understand the disc is not replacable.

I broke my last ACT, a 2100. Ended up taking four of the fingers off the pressure plate, and munched about in the bellhousing for a while.

I'm trying a SPEC clutch this time (stage 2+, if I recall), and I like it so far. I'm not a drag racer, but I do autocross and it's seen well over 100 launches without issues.
Objects in mirrors appear to be losing.

Are you running this?  If so, what pressure plate and flywheel are you using?
