i did a 1gb swap on my old 1ga and i didnt have to weld on anything... theres a metal ridge where the bumper attaches, you have to notch out the center section of it for the 1gb center tailight thats all i had to do  ???

You didn't have to swap that ridge piece in from the Talon hey?! I was going to do it so it had all the factory mounting points, but if you can get away without it for now I might just do it. Only thing is 1gb laser tails are taller than 1ga tail lights which would make the top of the bumper cover lower and possibly that ridge piece with it. Oh well, I'll look into it tomorrow now. Thanks again.

yah you shouldnt have to weld, just 5 mins with a cut off wheel or tin snips if you have the patience. between "plymouth" and "laser" on the rear bumper skin is where the metal lip behind needs to be cut out to allow room for the center 1gb talon piece to drop down to the bumper more then the tailights if that makes sense

So I took off the rear bumper today and just as I suspected I needed to remove the old Laser upper bumper cover support. On the 1gb Lasers the top of the bumper cover sits lower than that of the 1ga Talons and Lasers. Since everything was already off I figured fuck it, busted out the grinder and ground off all of the spot welds and cleaned up the new piece to be attached in its place. I gave a coat of black paint to protect the fresh metal and thats how it sits for the night. Tomorrow I will sand blast the rust off the little side brackets that hold the bumper cover to the car and give them a quick coat of paint as well as start drilling out all of the damn broken bolts.

Where am I looking?

Where the black paint is there used to be a metal ledge where the top of the bumper cover bolted too.

I just realized I never put up a picture of the Talon rear bumper conversion once I got it all mounted up! Please excuse all of the dirt, but it is the only picture I have at the moment.
