it also acts as a time machine when you hit boost, and if you have NOS it gives that blurry vision effect when you hit the NOS button like fast and the furious  ;D  ;)

yea it has nothing to do with filtering the cabin air.

Your gas tank expands when hot and contracts when cold, (basically) and when it does so it has to breathe.

Back in the day, cars just vented those vapours to the air.  Of course, thats not the best for the air we have to breathe etc, and as well it costs you money.

That canister collects the vapours and puts them back into the engine at the right time.

Keep it, but move it if you have to.

There is no reason to get rid of charcoal canisters, EGR valves or even catalytic converters on even pretty hot street cars.

Full race cars that are trailered and not liscenced, sure, but even then, its just for simplicity and a very small amout of weight.

back in the 70s, it could be a performance mod to remove some of these things as air pumps were heavy and took engine power, cats were very low flow and robbed lots of power and some of the factory tuning was pretty weaksauce.  But even then a charcoal canister never hurt any power production.
