« on: August 20, 2010, 10:33:30 am »

Bone Stock minus the heavy duty sway bar up front.

10,000km on complete engine from mitsubishi dealership
10,000km on brand new turbo from mitsubishi dealership
10,000km on Clutch
10,000km on brand new soft top. still feels felty
~110,000 Miles on the body

So far all I'm looking to do to it is:

DSMLink
FMIC with hard piping
intake hard pipe

and see where I sit from there. I actually have a really nice full exhaust on my 1g awd but not sure if I really want to move it over

I would do a fuel pump and injectors at the same time as the 'Link.  Pretty expensive to run it on stock fuel and exhaust.  Thats the other thing to do, the stock downpipe is SHIT for power on these cars.

I wanted to do the link this time first before anything to get myself a good baseline of what the car looks like running stock, figured that way I can try to keep it in those parameters while I'm learning the program.

I've played with quite a bit of bolt on stuff but never really a bigger fuel pump or injectors, I always assumed you needed dsmlink or a safc to get it running properly. The goal with this one is to get it running rock solid and achieve a steady 300hp. I figure its a goal thats definitely achievable and if I do it right I should still have a car I can run everyday of the year.

fuel pump can be put in whenever.  Injectors, yes, you need something to control them, but you WILL need bigger injectors.  You won't make 200 at the wheels with stock injectors on pump gas let alone 300.

Also 300 is achievable, but depending on the dyno, harder and more costly than it looks.

So I can pretty much just wire up as big of a fuel pump as I can and it'll automatically adjust for everything?

"You won't make 200 at the wheels with stock injectors on pump gas"
I thought our cars make 210hp from factory?

you can't go crazy on the fuel pump until you get a better aftermarket fuel pressure regulator.

As for horsepower, yes, its rated at 210 from the factory, but its more like 150-160 at the wheels.

Im sure that especially holds true then with the added weight of the soft top  :(

I dont even want to imagine what my old 420a had "at the wheels" Feels like closer to 75 than 140

weight won't effect horsepower or torque, only timed things like lap times, 1/4 mile times etc.  Braking distances, cornering ability etc.

I dunno John,

My buddy just made 200 whp on a 1.6L miata on 460cc injectors and stocker pump running a 14B. He was hitting 80% duty cycle.

450cc should be fine for 200whp

not ALL wheel hp  ;)  At least not on the RG Mustang dyno.

we are talking about a DSM, with a stock DSM pump and injectors etc.
