not sure the toyota can make 500hp on a totally stock engine tho. Not many can.

Ring lands look to be the first to go. but the rods and crank can do it up. not very many bother with cams until way later either...

most of the high hp guys ditch the 3s bottom for a 5s bottom, then machine the crank to accept 3s rods. Bore it out and this brings you to a 2.3-2.4 stroker.

Well now you're just being mean. There are plenty of DSM's that can't make 300 hp stock. It's all about the software now, and there are virtually no options for 3s-gte owners compared to all our great (free!) options and experienced tuners on the dsm platform

I think John means stock 4g63 short block, and head too I think, just cams needed to reach 500hp right John?

I should rephrase.

I mean there are plenty of 4g63s that have been exploded at low power levels if the owners are idiots or unfortunate or both.
