New wheel/tire combo
« on: May 31, 2008, 02:19:09 pm »
I found a good deal on some *previously enjoyed* Falken rt-215s which I love. They have a season of Autox on them, but they'll do another yet, all things hoping. Wheels are Motegi's (no idea the model) 17x8, I actually didn't measure the offset yet but just eyeballing it it looks to be around 38-40., but the fitment is perfect; good clearance all around and nice and flush. and according to the tire calc I'm pretty much exactly at stock diameter. Tires are 225-45-17s

(These are just cell phone pictures, so they don't do it much justice, will post better pics later)

Looks good  ;D Now for the question...what'd you pay for them?

If it won't go, bore it.
If it still won't go, stroke it.
If it still won't go, chrome it...

I bought everything for about the price of a new set of rt-615s. I was going to buy a new set of those in the stock size, but I opted for this route.

those look pretty damn sticky.  Nice.

Do be careful in wet/damp however, I bet they aren't all that good in those conditions.

Yeah, I've had these exact tires on my 240. They're ridiculously stiff and sticky, but can't do light snow or heavy rain AT ALL. Strickly dry/light rain tires, even with the AWD.

That said the tradeoff is worth it; good price, great sidewalls good turn in, good grip. Noisy as hell for tires, but frankly I can't hear them over my *factory* exhaust, so I don't even mind.
