Got my 91 FWD Turbo Laser for a grad present ($1750), BS belt snapped, rebuild head and did some maintenance like brakes etc for $500.
Bought 91 TSi AWD shell w/fucked tranny and motor for $600, made $600+ back on it. Bought used Bellhousing for $50 and tossed together a shitbox of a tranny (which is currently in my car and I perdict will be the first thing to go). Swapped motor from Laser into Talon, free, plus oil change, fluids, 14b compressor housing O-ring etc.
Soooooo All in all....5500$ for parts is all I really paid after all the parts I've sold. And I guess $1750 which I thank my mom for. Without that grad present I never would have discovered DSM's and my love for mechanics.
