Interest in DSM Shootout in Norwalk?
« on: January 18, 2006, 04:27:24 am »
I've been seriously considering attending this years DSM Shootout in Norwalk, Ohio. Most likely driving down there or even just flying down to enjoy the show.  I haven't found too much info on the details yet but I'm sure they'll pop up soon.

Would anyone be interested in going?

That'd make for a long ass drive.  Ya'll sure your DSMs will make it?   :P

A quick map quest lookup shows almost 40 hours EST time each way.  Or 4000kms+.  I did over 4000kms without issue on my last road trip in my DSM, but this will be 8000kms total.   That said it would be a fun trip.

Figure on at least $500 in gas each way.  Split hotel rooms or camp out to keep prices down.  I'm willing to bet to do it by yourself in a DSM would cost $1500.  Probably do it for $700 or so if splitting costs with a buddy.  I'd be in for it if I hadn't already made other financial commitments.

Ya 8000km without a problem on a DSM is rare, hell there would even be an oil change or two in the trip ith those kind of K's. Flying down looks much more reasonable, and will probably be cheaper.

Flying ain't cheap either tho.  What would be nice is a road trip down in a van or sedan with 4+ people pitching in for costs, that'd make it pretty reasonable.
