1g vs 2g Bov noise
« on: May 06, 2003, 12:40:41 am »
Just a question... i installed a 1g Bov on Jon Wongs 2g a month or 2 ago.. i was very surprised by the BOV noise... it wasnt even vented to the atmosphere but it was a lot louder than a 1g Bov... he was running about 15psi and i assumed that cause the sound difference... anyways.. Jared recently installed a MBC on his 1g and he's been venting his BOV to atmosphere... one has a very solid air sound... where the 2g has a high pitch varying whistle... what causes the difference in sound?

probably the dump tube in the 2g. Mine used to whistle or chirp or whatever you want to call it, would be really loud, then i cut the dump tube and it changed to a quieter whoosh.  The tube has a little rectangle cut out of one side and i assume thats what makes the whistling noise as the air passes by & through it.

that just gave me the idea of cutting a small slit in my bov dump tube and epoxying a whistle in there, lol

You need to attach those really annoying noise maker party things.  The plastic tubes that you blow into to extend the rolled up paper peice.  Mount it somewhere where it'll shoot out of the bumper or something when your BOV blows off.   8)

Ah but Troy, you forget the fundamental principle behind the Kazoo is to humm through it. That would be hard to mechanically produce.

Maybe a harmonica or one of those "weeenie whistles"
