you have either a bad wire, a bad connector or a bad air pipe connection somewhere between the air filter and the throttle body.
I have had the MAF code come on 3 times.
once, I forgot to plug the maf back in. once I forgot to tighten the lower IC pipe. and once I unhooked the throttle body elbow to mist some water in there for a decarbon(pre water inj)
all 3 times, bam, CEL, maf code.
Your old maf was probably fine. they are pretty hard to kill.
