fule pump??
« on: March 04, 2005, 06:49:43 pm »
ok is it bad if you can hear your fule pump?? im PRETTY sure thats what im hearing.  Its kinda like a high pitch tone.  like in your house when your alarm is on and you walk in.?? i hope someone knows what im talking about lol.  and i noticed that the tone of it changes when my turn signal is on.  like it gets quieter when the signal "ticks".... ok i hope im not crazy!! and if something is wrong, woud that be why my car is randomly hard to start?  like in the morning its fine most of the time.. but after work its hard... gahhh im sssoo confused!  :(

What kind of pump is it?  Walbro?

I know mine is loud.  I don't really notice it when I'm driving but when I stage at mission and it's quiet and idling and the stereo and heater and everything are off it seems almost deafening.

If it's stock then it shouldn't whine.

If it's a walboro, they always whine. That's normal for them.

if you have your carpeting out of your hatch, and if the fuel level is very low, you can hear the factory pump if you pay attention.

Especially if you have factory exhaust.

Like Robin said tho, if you have a Walbro(some call em Whinebro) you will hear it.  Period.

Hmm hard to start, and ticking you say?  This sounds more like leaky caps in the ECU. Or the caps are just about to start leaking.

Check those ASAP.
