How long does your clutch last?
« on: January 27, 2005, 06:11:29 pm »
Just curious to see how long you guys go between clutches. I had my changed when I got the car around 4 1/2 years ago, around 120,000km ago. It feels like I need to replace it again as it's almost to the floor when it engages. Does that sound about right?

If the engage point is all the way down to the floor, then that is a sign your clutch is still in good condition. However every 120,000 km sounds about right for replacing a clutch, especially on an AWD car.

It's FWD.
I always thought for some reason if the engagment point was near the floor it was a sign it was going.

If the engagement point is near the top then it is a sign of the clutch going. Then again it is hydralic so the clutch engage point is changing all the time anyways, I wouldn't judge a clutch by the engage point.

if the clutch still holds strong and you dont have any drivability issues just adjust the clutch pedal for now.

do you mean as your pressing down, as soon as you near the bottom, thats when the clutch starts to work? it might not be fully disengaging. does your car grind gears often aswell?
why does your car sneeze when you shift?"

It grinds only first thing in the morning. Maybe one or two times. After driving for a minute it's fine.

Definitly what Scott said, just take a quick look through the vfaq and adjust your pedal. As long as its not slipping I wouldn't worry about it.
