I've used Palm Logger and TMO software and they're both great.  The big problem with the palm is finding a palm that will work.  None of the new ones will work because they need the older software and a serial port and it's just hard to find a good old palm.

You don't need much of a laptop to run the TMO software.  Pentium 2 should be plenty.

For both colour screens help alot.  And a backlight on the palm for nighttime use.

As for cable the Martin Standish cable is great and supports palm and laptop and supposedly almost all the different softwares.
DSMs - fun when they run

hehe, PII is way overkill for just a TMO logger laptop ;)

I ran it on a Pentium 100 with 8 megs.  It worked ok.  More memory would help as it had to use the hard drive as memory more than I'd like.  The 64meg Pentium 233 is probably more than it really needs.

If no one on here has anything for you, Ebay is good for both Palms and laptops

To log?

Hardware =  Husqvarna chainsaw,  and some sort of tower system or grapple yarder.  Helicopter if the terrain is steep....

Software =  Wool socks, underwear,  and of course the loggers trusty plaid shirt.
