couple odd things
« on: December 19, 2004, 06:36:24 pm »
these 2 odd problems have stumped me, other day I noticed the lovely smell of burning oil as I was idling dropping off my friend, I dove away and a nasy trail of blue came out, after I started driving, nothing, it was fine, I floored it a few times and nothing, had some friends follow me later and see, it was no problem, so I let it idle for a few min again and it happened.... I have good compresion all around, great power, 144k any ideas?

this problem, unrelated I posted once about before, but I have more information now, sometimes when driving my car, usually but not always when it's cold, it happens more now than it did in the summer (didn't happen at all in the summer) but my car will just completely bog and lose all power, engine light comes on and it's just lifeless, right at, and only at exactly 2000rpm, now it's not a big problem cause I don't really even drive it at that low rpm often... but it still boggles me, then it I just hit the gas a little more and get it up above 2000rpm, and it's fine again, it doesn't happen under or over, only at exactly 2000... odd?

first off, whats the code for?

secondly, do a good intake leak test.

for the turbo smoke, it could be valve seals or turbo.  Both will do that if idling for extended periods and then taking off.

I still think ur second problem is your coilpack, unless you already got a new one, theres a test you can do on the coils i just forget what it is.
