wtb or borrow engine stand/crane
« on: October 26, 2004, 06:48:12 pm »
I've decided to pull the engine from the car and fix/clean it all up (since the car's gonna be parked for a while), but I don't have an engine stand or crane, so I'm wondering if anyone out there has one for sale or even better, if I could borrow it for a while (I'll pay some kinda rental fee). I don't really want to buy it cause I don't think i'll be using it more than once or twice, but if it's a really good deal...

thanks

Hey Richard, check out Princess Auto. Good selection of "once or twice" type tools. I actually picked up an engine stand from KMS tools for CHEEP and they had cheapo cherry pickers also for like $149 or so.

Princess Auto is really nice... been there once. They have a stand/crane in one deal for like $300, but that's too much for me (man I really wish I was still working full-time... damn school). Hopefully there's someone on here that I can borrow the crane off of at least, cause the stand isn't too bad, I've seen em go for less than $100, but used would be so much nicer for the "starving student's" pocket

I got my crane for $169+tax, and this engine crank dealie that lets me tilt the engine--really nice for pulling the engine out with the tranny, an extra $40.  KMS tools, good shit.
