Strut Bars

I've had my front and rear strut bars for awhile now, the other day I noticed that they both had some play by the mounting bolts. Now my question is, is it better to have the strut bars in compression or tension?

With the suspension/chassis design of the DSM's compression. But the diffences are negligable, expecially on the 2G front bars which have a bend in them.
As long as it is tight, the benefits should be there.

There was a big discussion about this a while ago.  Basically if you think about it, cornering forces make the tops of the strut towers flex together, the bar is there to keep them apart.  So you want wide as opposed to narrow, ideally you'd jack the car up and adjust it so it's snugs up to the studs when it's adjusted to be wide.

In other words, make it push out more :)

You don't really want to make it push out more either.  It's is just to put a little bit of pre-compression on the bar so that you're not transitioning from tension to compression when loading the bar.

So we shouldn't put it on while the car is jacked up?
