boost problems

i dont have an aftermarket boost gauge so i have to use the crappy little stock one!..but i cant boost past 0.5 once it hits 0.5 the car shakes (well kinda) its more of a really fast thumping sound!
i have no idea wut it could be

any ideas will help

stock guage is not a guage. buy a aftermarket one before you deal with any boost changes.

thx tips..but i havent been changing my boost levels..it just started to night..its never done this before

although I don't think this is it, but check if anything's hitting the turbo... inside and outside...

im a newbie to cars let alone newbie to dsm's, how do u check if the spark plugs are in good condition, and how do u check the spark plug wires are in good conditon?

I'm all up for newbies learnin shit and stuff - but seriously, go to Canadian tire and get a Haynes manual.  Read it.  You need to understand how the car works in order to take advice given by members and properly apply that information.

Haynes manual listing the basics would definitely be a good start Tim.  You unscrew the spark plugs and look at the electrode/prong and if it's just a nice brown its good condition, if it is a mess of any kind, it's past time to replace.  Spark plug wires should be checked with a multimeter to have contant resistance in them across the board to spec of what the wires should be.  You can also visually look for little cracks or something and sometimes even running the car in the dark with the hood open will tell you something if you can see arcing from the wires.  Both these things should be changed at intervals.  Spark plugs depending on the type and how you drive your car and what is all done to it can last anywhere from 5000 kms, to over 100K.  Wires usually last a while longer.  Actually I have a 1978 Toyota celica with original wires in it which are still good.
