Question about ECU caps
« on: February 13, 2004, 12:35:25 pm »
I just removed my ecu to check the ecu caps.  I was suprised to see that the ecu was so clean. There isnt any visual damage to the caps nor a "fishy smell" to them. Should I replace them any ways?

You'd might as well. I think I read somewhere that seeing any leakage can be difficult. Besides, by the time you see any damage, it may be too late for your ECU. You've already got the ECU out, might as well go all the way

From reading the TMO site and VFAQs is says the leakage is usually under the cap where you can't see it... so it wouldn't be a bad idea.  Unless you're not real confident that you can do it without wrecking something.  It'd be a shame to break something that wasn't broken ya know?
