sanding hard plastic
« on: December 03, 2003, 05:53:31 pm »
i'm porting out the lower chamber of my 1g maf..and i cant really use a dremel to reach the middle part inside the chamber...what do you suggest is a good material to use to sand down the hard plastic chamber
the only things i could think of were low grit sand paper ..or a file...the sand paper seems to work decent..but slow....and the file was easier to use than the sand paper but was extremely slow..very very slow
any ideas on what would be faster ?

Just keep at it with the sandpaper, that's how John and I did my MAF.  I don't think there is a better way if you can't get a dremel in there.

I think it was more like 80... Emery cloth would work well.  I just used about a 1" square on my fingertip.

If you think this is fun wait til you try making stuff out of fiberglass

Micheal, DON"T go too far until you get a pump, more pressure/bigger injectors and an SAFC.

Just take out the lower honeycomb, back out the screw and gently radius the lower part and knife edge the vertical piece in the middle of the lower part.

If you take any more out, it WILL be too lean up top.

As for getting in there, my Sears rotary tool made it all the way thru, when it went nuts.  I ported the hell out of it, shark-mouthed the lower chamber and really went to town a few weeks back.

I had to add almost 10%  :D  from 5grand and up.
