Cometic MLS HG install. Need to know?
« on: November 11, 2014, 02:53:16 pm »
Replacing/Installing a cometic mls hg. What do I need to know?

I used a blade to scrape off the block surface to get rid of what looks like carbon build up or some sort of sealer.  Also using a scotch brite pad and a little brake cleaner to clean the surface. Is that enough or do I need to do something else.

When installing the HG do I need to put some sort of sealer on the mating surface?

Head has been rebuilt and decked.

Usually when MLS hg is use, both mating surface need to be milled very smooth for best result. You may not have any issue with only the head milled if you not running high boost. If you not planning on high boost, probably better with stock composite hg.

Follow the fsm torque sequence, torque to spec and re torque after 100 km or so.

I tried running my fp68 to 27psi, but it would tapered down to 23~psi (stock hg no issue).
How were you able to hold 26psi on your big 16g?
I want to be able to run mid 30psi on my new setup.
