Plugs with meth
« on: September 22, 2012, 09:19:44 am »
Ok so I switched to a colder plug while I was running 26
psi and it seemed to be all good but now that I have meth and running more timing is it advisable to go back down a heat range? The only negative I'm experiencing is poorer gas mileage. But that can be so many things

Kevin what plugs are you running?

when i started upping the boost a bit on the 16g i went to the bpr7es plugs, keep using them when i added meth, my fuel economy improved a bit when i added water/meth into the mix for some reason (probably the rg tune being more dialed in then it had been previously)

Go with BR7ES     They are cool enough, and dont have a protruding electrode.   Less chance of blowout.
337awhp.  ---> 500 awhp ? =)

Replacing parts since early 2010.

agreed, BPR7ES.  I have run -8 plugs, but it did idle a bit poorer at longer lights etc.  I didn't really notice any better knock improvement out of them either.

I've heard of people reducing the gap a fair bit to help with misfire with meth injection.  It seems they are still able to light off the mixture just fine with the reduced gap, but I personally haven't tried it.  It seems they run down to about 0.18 gap from 0.28.

I wouldn't be surprised if idle gets a bit worse with a reduced gap (more misfires), but since I haven't tried it I'm not really sure.  If I had more time on the dyno I'd try 100% meth and a smaller plug gap, but I'm happy for now.
