I believe you just need a safety inspection from a shop certified to do that, which should be most of them. Best advice there would be to shop around a little bit and pick a reputable looking shop even if the price is a little higher. The problem with the cheapest price shops is they get you in with a real low quote but then they happen to find $1500 worth of work that it 'needs'. The inspection should be mostly stuff like tire wear, brake condition, lights and signals, seat belts, airbags (lights), etc. I believe when you move out of province you get up to 1 or maybe 3 months from ICBC in order to change your registration/insurance over, but don't quote me on that.
The procedure to bring a vehicle into BC from out of province shouldn't be much different except that coming out of Alberta it might be a little more thorough an inspection because Alberta vehicles tend to suffer more rust and corrosion than they do here. Also if you were coming into the lower mainland you'd need aircare of course.
