This is the fuel injection system from my GF's 4.3L Vortec 2000 GMC JIMMY. its a SFI system. i single fuel injector and fuel regulator in the middle and then all the lines down to the cylinder. GARBAGE SYSTEM.  3 lines were leaking

I've now replaced it with a MFI system with a injector for every cylinder. More power and much higher fuel efficency

stupid GM and there spider injection system.

Ran a bit rich eh on a hot start ??ahgahhahaha

change those quite a bit at work, but have never upgraded to a MPI setup.

Did you have to change the ECU/Harness as well to go to the multi independant injectors???

nope Delphi and ACDELCO  Have direct replacement systems. just swap it out.

Its funny that the 4.3 is a VORTEC motor yet its the only motor to have the "Spider" set up like that. the 4.8, 5.3 and the 6L's are all normal fuel injection systems

yea that "special" 4.3 is crappy because of that system.

leaking regulators, leaking lines, crappy plastic fuel lines, stupid poppet valves etc.

Matt, did your swap setup come with an actual port injection setup or just a new way of using those kind of poppet valves?  IE new actual normal looking injectors, fuel rail, intake manifold etc.

Reminds me of the CIS injection setup on the my old Jetta. Those things leaked too.

Damn under-engineering!   Ive had a few work vehicles with the 4.3 in them. They seem to be good long lasting motors,    but the damn under-engineered auto transmission goes sour if you leave it in the sun.

Matt, yes thats the basic upgrade.

There is a kit that replaces the intake manifold, the injectors and some other parts.  This gives you a real multiport setup.  I was wondering if you'd gone that way.

The one you did is just fine and way better than the original crap.  We may be doing one at work soon.  We did the reguator because it was leaking and told them it would be better if we did the whole spider but its more money so they decided to try just the regulator.  it runs smoothly now and its not leaking out the regulator, but the trims are still off.
