Just got spare engine bolted into rallyx, start checking timing, as engine came without CAS. Wanted to get to tdc to install.

#&@%&#@!!!! Timing mark for TDC doesnt match cams

Last night I was all like:

Then I was all like:

what mark is off?  the little plate that has the mark that is behind a pulley wheel can be flipped around and it's index is not centered so that causes it to be quite a bit out if that plate is on the wrong way.....

It's really easy to put it back on backwards - ask me how I know :(

Hi

This was a supposedly running engine, the layers of filth & grundge would indicate that this should be true. How does one set the CAS if timing mark is off?

Or is it simply a matter of popping lower pulley & flipping that plate?

update

cam timing seems to be good. Compression test shows no bent valves and all cylinders within 5psi

That is all.

funny damn post man!!

Thanks; after all the work, to still have to piss around with trouble-shooting........... if ya ain't got a sense of humor, stay far away from DSM's......

I am lucky in that I visualize situations same as that sit-com "Dream On" - and google images helps me to run with it.
