Anyone here did a balance shaft elimination on a 7 bolt?
« on: July 01, 2010, 10:54:55 am »
I have my motor rip apart, i'm thinking might as well do the balance shaft elimination.  If i take the balance shaft will i be prone to crankwalk sooner as it will vibrate more :-\.  Any input guys?

afaik, crank walk and bshafts have little to do with each other.  Just the end play/thrust bearing issue.

be sure you know what you are up for on the no balance shafts tho, if its a real daily driver it can be annoying.  Depending on your preference.  No its not bad, and I know lots of people do it on daily drivers, but its definately noticable for sure.  Especially if you have or plan on poly motor mounts.

maybe drive someones car with poly engine mounts, full exhaust and no BS.  See how you like it.

I just wanted to warn you as the engine mounts are not an easy job and neither is balance shafts.  Reversing those mods will make you hate your life.

yeah you can definalty notice the B-shaft removal.

When i did mine on my old DSM i couldn't really notice it at idle (stock mounts)...  but i could sure feel it in the higher RPM's.  Its almost like a "BUZZZZ" sorta feeling through the car when you get up over 5000 RPM.

I like Colts.  Turbo Colts.

no BS and poly mounts makes your car feel good. I like a car that feels like it has power at idle opposed to a car that you cant even tell if it's running. All depends on what you like really.

High rpms are fine on mine, its just as you roll thru about 3500 that you notice it, and at idle.

sounds exactly like my car.  Poly engine and tranny mounts, no balance shafts, and full 3".  AND running on custom speed density.  And with bigger cams.  As well, there is no interior back of the seats.  None at all.

its why I drive the Mazdaspeed everyday.

I'm actually thinking about taking my mounts out in favor of some worn stick mounts. Everything in my car shakes at idle (and any other rpm), even the dash.

My car has smooth idle and does not shake at idle.... Vibrations @ 2300 rpm gone by 2600 RPM
Shakes in 4 gear especially during deceleration I don't know why..
