I don't think the head has to come off, but its a procedure for sure.
That said, its not like you have to do them alot. They are more well made due to the fact that they are so hard to get, plus they have to be really precise. They open with 60volts(or 90?)
But, I'll do an intercooler swap on one of these over a Talon any day. Its literally 5 min. Maybe 6.
