bent rod will be from detonation probably.  Remember, he just put on a much bigger turbo with no other supporting mods.

What supporting mods do u speak of...

Even if the rod bearing was completely gone, like non-existant, they are only about less than 1mm thick.  So, that wouldn't explain the clearance to the deck.  It will be bent.  Chances the rod bearings are serviceable.  Replace them for sure, but they may have still been ok and the crank too.  Mine were and I had a bent 1g rod which is alot more stout than a 2g rod.

a 16G isnt going to require supporting mod's unless he is boosting 17+ psi daily.
but then were talking fuel only.

I couldnt think of any mod's that are gonna stop a bearing from shredding.

no?  Ok, keep doing it then.

For the rest of you, a 16g flows nearly double the air of a t25.  And you will need more fuel if you could/did run a t25 at 17+ psi. So logically you will need more fuel with a 16g.

Just a rough guess, but I'd say a small 16g at 10 psi would flow roughly that of a maxed out t25.  An Evo 16g would even be more.

Josh, if you want to run more than 10-12 psi on your new turbo, you should definately have a better pump, bigger injectors and something to control the injectors.

Intake and exhaust will also allow the engine to pump more air thru it, needing to have more fuel as well.

A better intercooler will help and hinder you.  Colder air makes more power and it is much more resistant to detonation, but its also much denser so its gonna need more fuel as well.

And, again, a bent rod does not mean a shredded bearing.  But if you wanted mods to keep bearings from having excess wear issues, a better oil filtration system, a better oil cooler, better radiator, better oil itself, cryogenically treated rods and crank, better quality bearings, prescision tolerances, a static and dynamically balanced engine, a real nice harmonic balancer are all mods that will lenghten bearing life.  Some minimally, some greatly.

I have a EVO 3 big 16G in my car with stock injectors.
I also have a wideband and an S-AFC2.

Before I had either of them in, I was boosting 13PSI daily with out any issues.
When I got them in I was boosting 17PSI and tuned my car on stock injectors.
Still have more room on them for a bit more boost before I need to put my 650 cc's in.

You can't rule out detonation, the #1 killer of all performance engines unless you know for sure it didn't happen though.  Carbon build up, bad gas, some failure anywhere along the line metering fuel and measuring air, a badly set or gummed up boost controller giving super boost for a short period, even one pull could do it, etc.  There's too much going on to rule that out and it's probably the case.

Yes you can run a bigger turbo on an otherwise stock or basically stock setup (I have) but you have to verify it's not knocking.

Warren didnt like when you beat him.

He also didnt like when I beat him in both my MX6's :)

At the track.

I had to launch in 2nd gear cuz I had too much torque and i'd spin all the way out.

He took off on me, we were side by side going into 3rd gear.

Thanks to my short gearing, we went into 4th and I left him like he was standing still

Probably the turbo I should have bought.  I had the pipes already setup etc.  I like my -10, but the install was not what you would call "direct bolt in" and I had to make/buy/get new piping for it and some other things too.  Plus they spool like crazy and I likes that  :)
