Manifold Wastegate help
« on: May 27, 2008, 06:15:36 pm »
hello, i recently bought a DNP manifold, now since the wastegate is on the manifold and i dont have a wastegate yet, still running stock turbo. what would be a simple way of pluging the wastegate inlet... other then buying a wastegate  :P, this would obviously be temporary.

I see, well just get a circular flange that will bolt onto it with a V-clamp. V-clamps are not that uncommon to buy. I dont know what thickness of flange you would need though. Buy the V-clamp first and check it out.

i thought it has to be angled.. or would a certain thickness of steel work .. to hold the plug in the hole.

I wouldnt put a "plug" in the hole but rather just cover the hole with a piece of sheet steel say 1/8" thick depending on the v-clamp you buy.

But yah, I owuld just get a wastegate if you came this far already and save the hassle. Miond you then you have to dump your 02 and if you have aircare coming anytime soon thats a no no.

if you wanted to stay internal gate, I would have passed on that particular manifold.  Now that you have it, you have to options really.  Get the gate and downpipe for it, or sell it and get one that is for an internal gated turbo

i want to go external, been shopping around, but i think extremepsi is my best bet, $420 shipped for a tial 44mm, the shop in vernon, told me 522, and then another 5-10 days for them to get it.
i was going to get a ported 2g manni but, eventually i wanted to get a SS tubular one, i wouldnt have found a cheaper one like that, so i bought it.
and the wastegate will be dumped

well its on jack stands right now due to my oil leak, so, i was thinking id do the manifold, o2 housing, and build my exhaust. but i doubt that will happen anytime soon.
