Fan control switch
« on: May 18, 2008, 12:16:31 pm »
I would like to remove the Fan Control Switch assembly in the 1gb radiator
and have it reinstall into a racing aluminum radiator...

Maybe I should  take it off a garbage radiator instead......
Suggestions????????

Do you still have A/C?  If not, there is no need to swap the control switch.

No AC,,,,
I thought fan control was self activate by radiator sensor..
So fan will self activate via gauge temp sensor by the thermostat housing????

So I don't have to install anything on the aftermarket Aluminum Radiator..

You will need the coolant temp sensor located on the stock rad or you will have to buy an aftermarket adjustable temp switch that will trigger the relay. Most of the aftermarket switches have a copper wire that just slips in between the hose and the rad outlet or inlet. My Koyo rad was tapped for the stock sensor when I got it.

you could get a bung welded in your rad that would match the sensor thread for not much money.  Or, worse comes to worse, you could have a 1/2" thick plate welded onto the correct spot on the rad, and then drill and tap it for the correct threads.  Have done both with success in the past.
