Data logger setup
« on: March 16, 2007, 01:00:35 pm »
Finally got around to mounting my palm. I was getting tired of having to hold onto the palm while tuning so it wouldn't fly around.
What do you think?

And yes that is the cradle it's sitting in. I went to crappy tire and bought a cheep power inverter so i could have constant power and be able to log at the same time. The battery was getting really bad, to the point where i only had 20min of life.

Nice cradle, I wish I could find a small one like that.  My palm is great, I like using it as a knock/timing guage except with the backlight on the battery dies fairly quick then I forget to recharge it and it looses all the memory and I have to bring it in and hotsync it again.

The cradle it came with is huge tho so no chance that's going in the car.  It's too bad you can't power the regular serial cable to charge the palm.

Is that a cradle that you've stripped down to the bare essentials?  Also, that 90degree metal bracket, does that get shoved into the vent?  Whatever it is, it looks like it works beauty.  I tried velcroing mine but I couldn't get the velcro itself to glue to the dash.  Looks like I'm going to re-visit my mounting ideas.  Thanks for the demonstration.

Yep i took the hotsync cradle apart and just used the front part. As for the bracket i just used a peace of aluminum i had lying around and bent it. Then screwed the hotsync face to it. The bracket fit's perfectly between the vent bezel and the dash.

(This one was done by someone else)
I tried the Velcro thing to but it didn't work out.
Now i just have to hid the wires and im set.
