Visiting Van from Victoria, car dies in Massey tunnel...
« on: August 26, 2006, 09:35:10 am »
Hey so I'm in Van right now visiting a buddy and as I'm coming through the Massey tunnel, all of a sudden get a huge power loss and the car sputters to a hault....ya, talk about a f*ckin nightmare!! So I barely get it out of the tunnel and get to the side of the road...the car will start, but dies unless I give it throttle. When I do give it throttle, the thing just sputters, sounds like its running on 2 cyls...so I'm in some major need of assistance here as I was planning on going back tonight....to tow the car back to vic would cost like $600+ so I'm hoping you guys can tell me some good shops I could get it towed to, ones that are hopefully open today.

Any help/advice totally appreciated! I got the car to Advance Automotive in richmond by tow. (250) 686-1816

that would be your upper IC  pipe just FYI the IC seperates the lower pipe from the upper

Glad to hear it was nothing major Max, you put that IC/piping together recently right? (assuming you have the new IC setup) Was it just a worm gear type clamp that worked its way loose?

For about $100 you should be able to upgrade all your crap worm gear clamps to nice SS t bolt units.  I just picked up 10 or 11 clamps for like $110 I think tax in.

Get them pipes beaded asap you will have nothing but probs. ask me how I know

Even a shitty weld on the end with the sharp edges grinded down will do the trick, If you dont have axess to a welder I have heard of people useing JB weld with good results.  Good luck.
