I dealt with that last year :)

When you installed the FMIC, did you seal some ducting between it and radiatior ?  If not, doing so should really help force the air through.

Another thing that helps immensely is replacing the foam if worn out that seals the fan to the rad.

Removing the weather stripping at the back of the hood will help lower the pressure in the engine compartment letting more air through the fmic and rad.

Do you have A/C ?

Heat shields in place ?

Maybe try wrapping the down pipe, that helped a bit for me.

It's amazing the little things that will help get the temps down.

Ds-map / Jackal, highly recommended.  I've been running it for the last 3 - 4 years.  Amazing improvement in throttle response and overall power under part throttle conditions, and that was with the old maf still in place for 2 years.  Amazing tuning platform in my opinion, and best of all free.

hmm thats a good idea. u mean the rubber seal near the back that goes all the way across the eng bay? b4 i take it off, won't that area rust in the future? curious

yea, the only thing that i don't have is the ducting after i put in my fmic.

About changing my head gasket ( this will be my last resort), doesn't look like i need to though, she isn't boiling over or anything like that, and when i changed my coolant it was nice and green.  And the engine hasn't eaten any coolant up or anything at all.

my worst fear has fallen upon me

compression test 75-90-100-105, this is with a snap on compression tester, i don't think i fucked up.

75 on no.1, did it 3 times.

no wonder the god damn car is so f**kin slow.

I now need options.

Build engine on the side? or just replace head gasket? turning out to be a nightmare.  :(  :(  :(  :(

with that low of a compression, can my engine still run? i mean, nothing really seems to be wrong, unless i did f up on compression test.  i'm not blowing any smoke, and losing any coolant. When i did my oil change, i did not see any coolant in it.

i'm still getting about 450 click to the tank highway driving. i'm just really boggle and frustrated.

When I had 3 good cylinders and one at 60 it ran well enough but sounded like a lawnmower, so with all four low there should be something noticeable.

Go to kinetic and get a leakdown test done.  That willl help pinpoint the location of the problem, and secondly will verify that there is indeed a problem.

Don't get discouraged too quickly, I had a similar experience with a faulty compression tester, as it turned out I had less than 2% leakdown on all cylinders.  That may just be the case.

i did another test on her , this time after i went to get some gas.

i did the test with her WOT, and with the plugs out of all the cylinders
90-90-95-115

i mean, i can only put so much torque on the hose connection before the hose starts twisting. So,

i'll do a leak down test tomorrow on her, and see how she is.

Do the compression test with the engine hot.  Like right after a decent drive.  I've picked up over 60psi on a hole between cold and hot numbers.

Derek, definetly do the ducting work first if you can.  You can drop anywhere from 5-10 degrees F when you're forcing the air through the right path.  I definetly noticed a change doing it and it was around 4 degrees difference.

If you're doing a compression test, do it right.  Make sure the engine is hot when you're doing it.

i did my last compression test with my last post after a spirited run to get some gas and temps were in the 200's. so those are the most accurate numbers, unless the tester was completely out of wack.

i'm going to hunt down a 97-99 eclipse bumper as it has the mouth to just duct air through the FMIC, and i'll build or if i can reuse the stock ducting with a lot of trimming. Those will definately help.
