just wondering (ECU and welding on manifold)

Maybe, maybe not, but do you want to risk it?  ECUs are expensive, and yet it only takes 30 seconds to disconnect the negative terminal.

However it takes 2 minuts to reprogramm the CD player.

I'd disconnect the battery and ECU. Why are you welding the manifold on the car?

Apparently BMW welded heads on blocks and manifolds on back in 70's with their 2002 race cars.
