MAS problems
« on: March 04, 2005, 04:32:15 pm »
Here's the problem and how it happend,  I'm heading up the Coquihalla just before the snowshed  and all of a sudden my car decides to die on me so I pull into that chain up area ( luckey I made it ) and it would barely idle, I had to keep my foot on the gas to keep it running. It idles really rough now that its back in Kamloops I can't drive it like NO WAY thats happening. So I get the engine code checked and it was MAS malfunction or something similar to that. So I try swapping the MAS itself with a guy's here in town and no dice still no go. Now that I think about it, it idles just like when I forgot to plug in the MAS when cleaning my filter. Ok so when I rev the engine up into boost ( it gets there with some encouragement ) the stock boost guage dosn't read anyting infact it dosn't even move from the off position. So I think there may be a wiring problem has anyone had any experience with this or know what could be wrong??

reset your ECU - MAS error code prolly stuck in memory.  Pull the negative terminal off your battery for a few min.  Note: your car may drive a lil 'off' for a bit while the ECU re-learns.

Good luck

I did reset the ECU with the new MAS installed and it still runs the same and the stock boost guage still dosn't respond at all. I didn't get an engine code though

you have either a bad wire, a bad connector or a bad air pipe connection somewhere between the air filter and the throttle body.

I have had the MAF code come on 3 times.

once, I forgot to plug the maf back in.  once I forgot to tighten the lower IC pipe.  and once I unhooked the throttle body elbow to mist some water in there for a decarbon(pre water inj)

all 3 times, bam, CEL, maf code.

Your old maf was probably fine.  they are pretty hard to kill.

ok tried it again and now I have instant error code all of my hoses are tightend so when I get back to Kami I'm going to do a voltage test and try to find the bad wire
